Sympathy for Dung Beetles

Sympathy (like crocodile tears) for conservative, libertarian and die-hard GOP blathermouths & editorialists condemned to shoveling the same old same old again and again (no matter how discredited by logic or events) in their never-ending battle to persuade a majority to vote against their own best interests.

Gosh, almost a month since I put anything in here. It is not because some GOP sympathiser has failed to do
political Dung beetles work. I heard from a reasonably reliable source that a story from a Washington, DC paper ended
up in the ARGUS leader of Sioux Falls, SD. It was a story about a somewhat general issue. In the DC paper, there
was a quote from South Dakota Senator Tim Johnson. When the story was reprinted in the ARGUS, the paragraph or
sentence quoting Johnson had been deleted. Some hardworking beetle someplace must have been at work...only this
time it was not by improving the appearance of some GOP dunderhead....nope, this was done by eliminating any mention
of a hard-working if rather boring South Dakota Democrat.

I hope to remember to put a bit more substance into this blog. I am sure there are a few dozen things that will turn
up soon. The work of political dung beetles is never done.------- Doug Wiken for Sympathy for Dung Beetles.

ACTUAL "Inordinate Fondness for Beetles..Not Political
An Inordinate Fondness for Beetles
Blurb from the site---An Inordinate Fondness for Beetles is an authoritative reference in a breathtakingly beautiful volume, one that will leave every reader with a deeper understanding, appreciation, and--yes--fondness for these amazing creatures and their place in nature. In terms of numbers, beetles are the most successful creatures on earth: about 350,000 species of beetles have been described since 1758. They range from tiny to gigantic, occupy sundry habitats, and eat everything--plants, animals, and their own remains. An Inordinate Fondness for Beetles provides an engaging look at these magnificent yet poorly understood creatures and highlights the absolutely essential role they play in the dynamics of nearly every terrestrial ecosystem on Earth. And, as this book beautifully demonstrates, the aesthetics of beetle design are amazing. The fantastic colors and shapes of these creatures warrant the gorgeous color photography lavished on them in this book..
((((((((((( Politicans are colorful too, but affection for them varies anyway. Had to put this in as a break from the usual dscouraging news about the GOP Dung Beetles who move the same old same old round and round again in their continued efforts to get a majority of the population to vote againsst its best interests. ------- Doug Wiken ))))))))))

'A Whitewater Farewell, at Last' (washingtonpost.com) James Carville responds to The Washington Post's "fawing editorial treatment" of Ken Starr and Robert Ray. The Washington Post editorial pages and the pages of the WSJ and The NYT were doing "dung beetle" work for the hypocrisy wing of the GOP. ------ Doug Wiken

Comment---LISTEN TO THEM WHINE. SEN. ORIN LEE HATCH SQUEALS LIKE STUCK PIG OVER THE "UNPICKERING"
Sen Orin L. Hatch of Utah was just on CBS with Bob Shieffer doing the 'dung beetle" work he seems to enjoy so well. Republicans of
all sizes and mental capacities are repeating the same basic lie from blast fax central. That lie is that Republicans never did anything
like the Democrats did to Pickering. Why, you would think the UN-Pickering was such a politically rare event that it might be comparable
to Haley's comet appearances.

Well, maybe; but Pickering did at least get UNPICKERED. Clinton's judicial appointments never even got to a committee hearing because
any single Republican Senator could prevent a hearing. Democrats have at least moved the process from the decision realm of a single most
unqualified Republican Senator to be a hatchet on nominations. Democrat rules don't allow such a black ball, blue pencil secret non-process
to prevent judicial nominies from every even getting into a committee hearing. Had the Republicans played it straight with Clinton appointees,
there would be no vacancy for Pickering to fill. Three of Clinton's appointments to that district never even got a committee hearing.

Listen to the dung beetles working on this issue. The Grand Omission of salient facts is their only argument. The whining about "ideological" testing
is the damnest pot calling the kettle black act seen for many years. The ever-minor Bush practically shed tears of despair for his
ideologically selected and unqualified appointment being attacked on ...why it was just terrible...ideological grounds. There is a very
simple solution to this problem, ever-minor Bush can just stop making nominations of ideological troglodyte right-wingnut hack judges.

Listening to Hatch trying to make excuses for this administration makes one wonder what is wrong the voters in Utah.. He was even
trying to blather his way through a justification of Tom Ridge secrecy on a level with the North Korean "non transparent" or "open" regiime.
Hatch seemed to be denying that Congress even had any budge oversight function. Hatch is partisan political puke.. a sick inane joke in the
Sabbath gasbag circuit.

FAUX NEWS FAUX UP..RUNS SATIRE AS "NEWS". Should anybody ever take their political coverage seriously???

Fox News Channel Finds Itself Outfoxed It would be one thing if I had set out to dupe Fox News and somehow succeeded. The truth is scarier. The network duped itself, through either sheer laziness or cluelessness.

Was it my place to apprise them of the fact that they were about to assign credibility to a spurious source? I thought not. Not when it meant being able to flaunt it in the very first completely truthful story ever to appear on the demented pages of HollywoodPulse.com. Not when it enabled us to flag its appearance with the on-site banner "As Seen on Fox News Channel."

I mean, these are the guys who proclaim, "We report. You decide." I simply decided to let them report. The result wasn't real journalism, merely an incredible simulation.-------Ray Richmond is co-founder of HollywoodPulse.com.

(((((((((((( Not sure this guys hands are clean, but when a cable "news" outfit can't sort satire from real news, why should any of their political "news" or anything else be quoted or taken seriously? This outfit is not a source any real news group of anykind should take seriously. And, not a source that any viewer should take seriously. They have an agenda but who knows for sure what it is...serious journalism does not happen to be part of these dung beetles ethic.------- Doug Wiken )))))))

GEORGE WILL SEES TRANSFORMATION--Dung Beetle bush conversions

Cokie and co-conspirators is about over for the day, but already George Will has seen a transformation in Bush. One might ask what he was transformed from and to. I don't see any transformation. He is still a juvenile twit who happened to hit the "trifecta" of polical good luck as ever-minor Bush himself said. Bush is so shallow he can't indicate a nuance of anything. His incredibly inane statements relating to use of nuclear weapons left Colin Powell on CBS trying to somehow dig a coherent nuanced foreign policy position out of the shrub's jumble of jingoism.

Next Will nearly waxed poetic lauding the amazing weapons used in Afghanistan....implying that somehow these weapons sprung from thin air of the Bush administration rather than the cautious buildup made by the Clinton administration.

Will has a LOT of work to do. He can push the SOS Bush blather up one hill and down another. He can smear his bowtie with bush blather, but when he
gets done, no matter how much "intellectual" tugging, pushing, and pulling, Bush will not be magically transformed from a frog-killing twerp into a mature statesman.

NY TIMES "REPORTER" WORKS as a "DUNG BEETLE" for the ever-minor bush.
Salon.com Politics | How to seduce the press
(((((((((( Press shmoooozzzzing with the amiable dunce distorts reporting. Frank Burni could have written a book warranting some respect; but this review of it makes it look more like a case study demonstrating the press Dung-Beetle Syndrome. Read
the article as a "buyer beware" notice. Think about the book on remainder as a good example of the trend in "journalism" to something more akin to grocery store tabloid Hollywood publicity hype. The NYT may be the newspaper of record, but internet sites like Salon are the means of correcting the record... and preventing the spread of the Dung-Beetle Syndrome. ---------- Douglas Wiken )))))))))
